East Glos Away

Team is as follows:

GK - Kim

RB - Lorna
CB - Tor
CB - Nicky
LB - George

RM - Lorna
CM - Sophie
LM - Alice
R Wing - Lizzie
L Wing - Jane

F - Lex

As you can see we will play a slightly different formation. We will play two wings instead of forwards - these two players will play deeper but hold the width. We can then attack using our pace rather than receive the ball with our backs facing the goal.

Good luck

CB - Tor
CB - Nicky
LB - Jen

RM - Lorna
CM - Sophie
LM - Vicky

F- Jo
F - Soraya

Well trained on Monday. Lets do the basics well. Simple three touch hockey in order to create 2 on 1s throughout the pitch. We need to be ruthless in front of goal - shoot early, hit corners, test the goalie but maintain your composure. We are playing really well so lets score goals at key times and win.

Targets:

1. Clean sheet
2. Score three goals

Enjoy the game - attack right from the start and put them under extreme pressure

Please work really hard in defence to protect the D. Lets run off the ball to support each other and play one two throughout the pitch. We need to get short corners when in the D and test the keeper out by getting lots of shots on goal.

Good luck

Jaspers

Well played. A very good second half performance.

There were some really nice patterns and the running off the ball was much improved as the game progressed. We still need to show more composure, skill and awareness when we are put under pressure - we either lose possession or pass through a stick. We must get our head up protect the ball and play a simple pass - that often requires off the ball running. Final point, we must run laterally across the pitch NOT behind the defender.

Well trained

Good luck at the weekend

Jaspers Away 3rd November

The team for the weekend is as follows:

GK - Kim

RB - Lorna G
CB - Tor
CB - Nicky
LB - Jennie

RM - Jo
CM - Sophie
LM - Vicky

F - Lizzie
F - Soraya
F - Lex

Sub: Jane

Lets continue from where we left off last week. Simple passes and working hard for each other by running off the ball for constant support. We must keep possession, create two on one's and get an outcome when we get in the D. We did very well at getting short corners last week - lets continue to be clever and push the ball onto the opposition's feet.

Enjoy the game

It is a 1.30pm meet at the Astro. It is a 4pm push back at Jaspers (BS15 3LA).
Please bring white kit.

Devizes 3 Mendip 2

Absolutely fantastic. Passing and movement was brilliant with intricate one two's throughout the pitch, the composure on the ball was excellent and work rate faultless. Really well done. A thoroughly deserved victory. Everybody is improving and working well together.

Lets pick up some key points in the few matches and we will be in a very strong league position. The team will go up on Thursday or Friday.

CB - Nicky
LB - Soraya

RM - Lorna

Lets build upon the excellent work at training.

Key points:

1. Run at angles not straight

3. Defend as a unit and work hard

Both myself and Emma will be at the game carrying out coach and captain duties.

Good luck

Bath Buccs too strong

Well tried. They were very strong but we need to go back to the drawing board and work on skills and keeping possession. We cannot defend for seventy minutes, we need to control the game!

See you all on Monday.
E-mail me if you cannot make it

RB - Nicky
CB (Lower) - Tor
CB (Higher) - Soraya
LB - Jen

RM - Lorna
CM - Sophie
LM - Judy

F (Lower) - Lex
F - Jo

Well trained on Monday. I was impressed with the energy, passing and movement. Lets take these positives into the game. We need to keep the passing simple, play as a team and defend the middle of the pitch. There is no game next week, so lets put our bodies on the line to defend the D.

10.30am at the Astro (prompt please)

See you saturday

Bretforton (Away) - 6th October

Team is as follows:

GK - Kim

Rb - Nicky
Cb (Lower) - Tor
Cb (Higher) - George
Lb - Fiona

Rm - Lorna
Cm - Lorna G
Lm - Sophie

F (Lower) - Emma
F - Jo
F - Lizzie

Sub: Jane

Lets keep up the hard work and effort. Bretforton are a strong side but if we play like we did against Clifton there is no reason that we cannot beat them. Defend the middle of the pitch, do not let them get near the D. Lets break up play professionally if we have to. Keep your stick on the ball when we are attacking and be patient. Play the ball around, keep possession and shoot when we enter the D. Lets try and get lots of short corners as they will be a very good method of scoring this weekend.

Try your best and enjoy the game!

Ollie

Arrangements:

9am prompt meet at Sports Club
Please bring white kit as well as Black.

Well done this weekend

Well played. Two very good results.

It was pleasing to see that the defence was solid and good to see the 1st team scored four goals. Lets try and take these positives into next week's tough games.

Clifton

The team for Saturday is as follows:

Gk - Kim

RB - Nicky
CB (Lower) - Tor
CB (Higher) - George
LB - Fiona

RM - Lorna
CM - Emma
LM - Vicky

F (Lower) - Lex
F - Jo
F - Lizzie

Enjoy the game. Defend as a unit protecting the middle of the pitch. Stop them from getting near the "D". Please try and work together and try not to get too stretched. If we can see that the forwards are at one end of the pitch and defenders at the other then we are not attacking and defending as a team. Stay compact especially when defending.

Please bring white kit - socks and top
11.30am start away at Clifton
9am prompt meet at the Sports Club

Good Luck

See you on Monday

Devizes 1 Wootton Bassett 3

Well played girls. A good hard working performance.

There were some very encouraging signs particularly the way we defended once again. If we defend like that (as a unit) all season in our league we will be very hard to break down. There were also some very nice patterns of play particularly down the right hand channel. Short corners worked nicely but we will try and have two players at the top from now on - one to stop and one to hit.

They were a very good side but we need to improve our skill levels. That includes basic passing and control of the ball. We need to be patient and stronger on the ball - there are too many occasions when we give their players an opportunity to take the ball off of us. Finally, we must not run in a straight line. It is very easy for defenders to tackle us at the moment. We need to run diagonally or laterally with the ball and off the ball. When we do this we must try and keep our sticks on the ball virtually all the time because then if the defenders try and tackle they will hit our stick and concede a foul. We need to be much stronger in the tackle.

We will work on this in training

If you have any questions particularly about the formation please come and have a chat with me

Wootton Bassett - 15th September

Team for Saturday is as follows:

CB (Higher) - Tor
LB - Soraya

RM - Nicky
CM - Sophie
LM - Emma

F (Lower) - Lorna
F - Lex

Subs: Harriet, Xanthe

Lets continue to build on last weekend.

Simple passing, defend the middle of the pitch and attack wide. Forwards run laterally as we did in training and have patience to move it around the back.

Meet 10.30pm on pitch at the Leisure Centre. See you then

Good Start

Well done - good performance.

I was very impressed. We played like a team and were in total control of the game. We defended as a unit and the short corners worked really well. We must continue to try and attack wide to stretch their defence and run laterally across the pitch to drag their defenders from side to side. At the back, we need to pass around more and not force down line. Finally when we get near the D lets be more clinical and put the game out of reach when we are dominating.

Great stuff

Really good draw as well for the 2nds
